Alfred C. Brown

Owner

Hi, I'm Alfred C. Brown.

For over three decades, my life's work has been dedicated to uncovering the truth and fighting for justice, especially when the stakes are highest. I own and operate Insight Investigation Services, where I bring every ounce of my experience to complex investigations.

My journey really deepened during my 16 years as Chief Mitigation Specialist with the Virginia Capital Representation Resource Center (VCRRC) in Richmond and Charlottesville (1991-2007). That role was about fighting for lives – conducting intense investigations in death penalty cases. I dug deep to find mitigating evidence and potential proof of innocence. That meant building detailed social histories with clients and their families, tracking down and interviewing countless witnesses (often using specialized databases), talking to inmates behind bars, and looking into serious issues like prosecutorial or juror misconduct. It was challenging, vital work.

The pursuit of justice continued at the University of Virginia Law School's Innocence Project (2009-2014). Working alongside Directors Deirdre Enright and Matthew Engle, I interviewed Virginia Death Row inmates and investigated other capital cases where wrongful convictions were suspected. I was involved in some truly impactful cases – names like Earl Washington, Beverly Monroe, Richard Tipton, James Roane, and Coleman Gray. It reinforced my commitment to getting it right.

Today, at Insight Investigation Services, I use that extensive background to help attorneys, corporations, and individuals. I supervise teams handling all kinds of cases – criminal defense, civil litigation, domestic matters, and insurance claims. My core work is still investigation: finding and interviewing witnesses to secure crucial statements or affidavits for court, conducting thorough field and background research, and providing clients with clear, detailed written reports and video documentation. If a case goes to trial, whether in state or federal court, I'm ready to provide testimony based on my findings.

The search for truth never stops. Whether it's preventing a wrongful conviction, building a strong defense, or uncovering facts in a civil dispute, I bring focus, integrity, and decades of specialized experience to every investigation. I'd be honored to put that experience to work for you.
